What is National Day?
Luxembourg National
Day began on January 23, 1943 as Groussherzoginsgebuertsdag,
“the Grand Duchess’s Birthday. In
1962 the date of the celebration was changed from January 23 to June 23 due to
lousy weather.
When Grand Duke
Jean ascended the throne in 1964, he expanded national day into a national day
of pride. Since then,
National Day has become a day of celebrations filled with festivities,
concerts, and fun for the whole family.
