About Will
Will is the son of Jane Tiernan of Whyteleafe, UK, and Chris and Annie Tiernan of East Molesey, UK. Will grew up outside of London, alongside his younger sister Katie. In 2008, Will took a two-year temporary work assignment in Luxembourg and has been here since. Will enjoys sailing tall ships and is involved in the Jubilee Sailing Trust, a United Nations accredited disability charity, promoting integration through the challenge and adventure of tall ship sailing.
About Kara
Kara is the daughter of Ken and Mary Lammi of Hingham, MA, USA. Kara grew up outside of Boston with her older brother Alex and younger brother Peter. Kara graduated from Salem State College with a bachelors of science in Nursing. Kara has been predominantly focused on pediatric chronic illnesses. Prior to moving to Luxembourg in September 2016, Kara worked as a staff nurse at UMass Memorial Emergency Department. Kara enjoys creative pursuits such as knitting and sewing.
How we met
Halloween 2015 - Jackie, Will, and Kara
Kara was visiting her friend Jackie in
Luxembourg on Halloween 2015. When Kara and Jackie's cab was late, they
decided to go to the Updown Bar. Will had spent Halloween with some
friends watching the Rugby World Cup Finals. Afterward, Will and some friends
decided to dress up and go to Updown for the occasion.
To introduce himself, Will used the best pick up
line ever "You sound like you're American." It worked.
After a ten month transatlantic romance, Kara moved to Luxembourg in Sept
2016. In November 2016, Will proposed while the pair was on holiday at a twelfth century chateau. Kara, of course, said yes.
